Why volunteer with Out For Sport?

You don’t need to be sporty, experienced, or even LGBTQ+ yourself. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds. What matters is that you care about making sport more inclusive and welcoming for everyone. As a volunteer you’ll:

  • Help make sport safe and welcoming for LGBTQ+ people across London and the South East
  • Join one of London’s most vibrant and inclusive communities
  • Choose flexible hours that work around your life
  • Build new skills and connect with like-minded people

Your time helps build real community. London Royals Hockey Club, one of our network clubs, know that better than anyone. Watch their story below to see what showing up means to the people who do.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience to volunteer?
No experience needed. We welcome anyone who wants to get involved. We’ll give you all the info and support you need, so you’ll never be left on your own.

Can allies volunteer with Out for Sport?
Absolutely. You don’t have to be part of the LGBTQ+ community to support LGBTQ+ inclusive sport. Allies are an important part of making sport truly inclusive.

Do I need to be sporty?
Not at all. Many of the available roles, like secretary, social media, and membership admin are entirely behind the scenes. No kit required.

How much time do I need to give?
It depends on the role. Some volunteers help out once a week for an hour or two. Others help only at events, which might be once every few months. You can choose what works best for you.

Can I volunteer just once or for a short time?
Yes, we often need extra help for one-off events, like the Out for Sport Festival, or LGBTQ+ Sports Fair. It’s a great way to try volunteering without a regular commitment.

Can I volunteer with a friend or my team at work?
Yes, definitely. Volunteering with friends, colleagues, or your team can be a lot of fun. Get in touch via email and we’ll help set it up.
