The LGBTQ+ Out For Sport Festival supported by Better is the UK’s largest event of its kind, bringing together LGBTQ+ inclusive sports clubs for the ultimate come and try day in London.

Registration desk supported by The Nurture Group open 10:30am – 4pm

Are you over 18, ready to join a sports club, but not sure where to start? You’re in the right place. At the LGBTQ+ Out For Sport Festival, you’ll find a community that celebrates diversity and embraces everyone, no matter your sexuality, gender identity, background or ability. Here’s what you can expect on the day:

 

  • Feel safe and included: Joining a sport club can be intimidating, especially if you’ve had bad experiences with sport in the past. The LGBTQ+ Out For Sport Festival gives you a space to truly unwind and be your authentic self.
  • Try different sports: There will be lots of LGBTQ+ inclusive sports clubs to meet, so you can try all kinds of fun activities, like football, tennis and even line dancing. It doesn’t matter if you’re new or a pro, you’ll be able to hop between sessions to find a club that works for you.
  • Feel inspired: You’ll learn how sports can make a positive impact on your life. It’s not just about keeping your body strong and healthy – sports also have amazing benefits for your mind. They can boost your mood, reduce stress and increase your self-confidence.
  • Meet others in the community: Sports have a unique way of bringing people together. You’ll have the chance to meet with sports clubs and people who share similar interests and experiences.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an age restriction for attending the Out For Sport Festival?
Yes, the Out For Sport Festival is open to individuals aged 18 years and above only.

Can I hop between sports or do I need to stick to one sport for the day?
Absolutely! Drop in and out of the sessions as you want to. Try multiple sports throughout the day and switch between activities as you please. Whether you’re trying out different sports or coming to see one or two favourites, the choice is completely yours.

Can I turn up on the day without a ticket?
We’d recommend getting a ticket in advance at Eventbrite. An event ticket is required for entry to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable experience. If space allows, we may accommodate tickets purchased at the registration desk, on a first-come, first-served basis.

I’m not a part of the LGBTQ+ community. Are allies welcome to join?
Of course! LGBTQ+ inclusive sport clubs welcome everyone, including allies of the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you’re an LGBTQ+ individual or an ally, you’ll find a friendly community and fun events tailored for all.

Did you realise it’s Father’s Day on 16th June?
We sure did 😁 Bring your dads and your daddies – we won’t judge. They can cheer from the sidelines or join in the fun. But if you have other plans and can’t stay the whole day, feel free to drop into a taster session before or after lunch – you don’t have to stay all day.

Are the facilities at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre wheelchair accessible?
We’ve made the LGBTQ+ Out For Sport Festival as accessible as possible for all attendees. The venue is wheelchair-friendly, and has accessible facilities available. If you have any specific accessibility requirements or concerns, please let us know via email, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Will gender-neutral bathrooms be available at the event?
Gender-neutral bathrooms will be available at the Out For Sport Festival. Additionally, our staff will be on hand to assist with any specific needs or concerns regarding access needs. Your comfort and wellbeing are our top priorities.

Where can I find food options for lunch during the event?
There is a café at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre and in Crystal Palace Park with a variety of food and drink options for lunch. Both café options accept card payment.

What should I bring on the day?
Make sure to bring comfortable clothes, a water bottle and trainers. If you plan on joining Out to Swim for a swimming session, don’t forget your towel and swimsuit. If the weather is good, pack sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, snacks and any personal items you may need.

Are lockers available for storing personal items or bags?
Yes, lockers are available for your convenience. You can store your personal items or bags in the poolside lockers for 20p (non-refundable), or bring your own padlock to secure your locker near the gym. While lockers are provided for your convenience, Crystal Palace National Sports Centre and event organisers cannot take responsibility for any lost or missing items.
