Pride on Ice - Streatham Ice Hockey Club

October 08  2017 18:00 – 21:00

One of the UK’s oldest league ice hockey clubs, Streatham IHC are showing their support for the LGBTQ community at their game against Milton Keynes Thunder on Sunday 8th October.

Based in South London and competing in the National Ice Hockey League, Streatham will be the first team to use Pride Tape in a competitive fixture with the rainbow tape wrapped around parts of their player’s sticks. The club have had to seek special permission to do this as the colours ordinarily violate the rule book, hence it is a UK and possibly world first.

The build up to the game will be used to show support for players, coaches and fans in the LGBTQ community, whilst also educating all groups about use of casual homophobia and transphobia in and around hockey.

Tickets for the game are available on the Streatham Website – Puck drop I see at 6.45pm Sunday 8th October Streatham Ice Area, 390 Streatham High Road, SW16 6HX.  Each LGBT club is being offered a couple of complimentary tickets and to obtain these you should drop and email to ed.fordham@gmail.com by close of play this week giving your name, club and a contact phone number.
